WINSTON-SALEM – Almost every North Carolina A&T men's and women's indoor track and field athlete saw action this weekend as the Aggies completed a whole weekend of running, throwing and jumping by competing in the JDL Flat Is Fast Invitational at the JDL Fast Track on Sunday. The Aggies won three times on Sunday, giving them four wins for the weekend after hurdler Jason Holmes claimed the 60-meter hurdles at Virginia Tech's Hokie Invitational on Friday.
Two of the Aggies' wins came in field events on Sunday. Freshman Kaleb Lucas captured his first collegiate win by winning the men's long jump. Lucas's best jump measured at a personal-best 22-feet, 7 ¾ inches. He is now ranked seventh in the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) in the event, joining teammates Aeneas Reed (4th) and Joseph Palmer (10th) in the top-10.
Sophomore Taylor Reagor earned her second career win and the first of her indoor career by claiming first place in the women's shot put. Reagor's best toss was measured at a personal-best 42 feet, 5 ¼ inches. A&T's other win came on the track as senior Camille Herring captured her first career win with a victory in the women's 800 meters.
Herring finished the race in 2:22.33. Herring was one of three Aggies to finish in the top-5. Freshman Ryan Prioleau finished third in 2:23.16, and senior Ania Campbell placed fourth in 2:23.25. The Aggies also had three second-place finishes, giving the team six combined second-place finishes for the weekend.
Freshman Shamar Morgan ran the men's 200m in 22.89. Junior Kylan Willis ran the 1 mile in 4:27.30 for his second-place finish, and Dae'Shawn Griffin had a time of 1:24.70 in the men's 600m to finish behind Gardner-Webb's Nathan Cremin. In addition to Prioleau's third-place finish, sophomore Cameron McNair placed third in the women's weight throw with a toss of 52 feet, 10 ¼ inches.
A&T will return to the Fast Track next week to participate in the Camel City Invitational, Jan. 26-27. Additional Aggies will head to New York next for the Dr. Sander Invitational Columbia Challenge.
