BLACKSBURG, Va. – It was a light day in terms of the number of participants for the North Carolina A&T men's and women's indoor track and field teams on Saturday during the second day of the Hokie Invitational hosted by Virginia Tech at Rector Field House. Junior Fajr Kelly, the reigning Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) women's track athlete of the week, had another excellent outing in the 800 meters.
A week after running a 2:09.04 at the University of South Carolina's Gamecock opener last week, Kelly ran a 2:11.88 in the 800m to finish second. Kelly's 800 at the Gamecock Opener is still ranked No. 1 in the conference.
The women's 200m saw the Aggies have two athletes finish in the top-10. Junior Pebbles Scott led the way by finishing third in 24.73. It was a few hundredths of a second slower than her best time this season, a 24.37 that has her ranked fourth in the CAA. Junior Lucheyona Weaver placed sixth in 25.045.
There were also two top-10 finishes in the men's 200. Graduate Shemar Chambers finished fifth in 21.95. After his first 200m run of the season, Chambers ranks 10th in the CAA. Freshman teammate Isaiah Taylor placed eight in 22.03.
