AGGIES OVERVIEW:Â The Aggies upset the North Carolina Tar Heels, 7-6, in Chapel Hill on Tuesday night, becoming the first non-ACC school to win at Boshamer Stadium this season. It is just the second time in program history that A&T has beaten UNC, the first since April of 1993.Â
The Aggies need to ride the momentum of that game, as they have struggled mightily through the first three weekends of Big South Conference action, mustering a 1-8 record. Their lone win was a 6-5 bout last Friday against UNC Asheville.Â
Pitching will need to be a focal point, as A&T has surrendered double-figure runs in five of their nine conference games. In conference games alone, the Aggie staff represents the worst ERA in the league at 8.42.Â
On the offensive side, their bats have struggled, failing to score double-figure runs themselves in Big South play. A&T is batting just .263, 10th in the league in their nine conference games.Â
Head coach Ben Hall is in his eighth year. He is 153-211 and led the Aggies to the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) title in 2018.Â
FIGHTING CAMELS OVERVIEW:Â Â The Camels come in on a tear, having won their last nine games, most recently a 10-6 triumph over the Duke Blue Devils on Tuesday night in Durham. Campbell has scored 118 runs over that same span, including an NCAA single-game best 36 against Presbyterian on March 27.Â
Sophomore shortstop Zach Neto came into the season as the Big South preseason player of the year. He ranks second in the league in batting at .378. He also has 16 extra-base hits, including eight doubles and six home runs, with 21 RBI. Campbell ranks fourth in the conference in batting (.270).Â
Campbell also possesses the preseason pitcher of the year in sophomore right-hander Thomas Harrington. His 1.36 ERA is good for second in the conference, and he boasts a 7-1 record. Harrington has 75 strikeouts in 53 innings pitched.Â
He has held the opposition to five hits or less in seven of his eight appearances. Harrington has gone at least six innings in each one. Harrington has four games with double-digit strikeouts, including a career-high 13 against Appalachian State. Campbell holds a league-best 4.57 ERA.Â
Head coach Justin Haire is in his 13 seasons at Campbell and his sixth as the head coach. In those six seasons, the two-time Big South coach of the year has won 218 games while dropping just 168, a. 565 winning percentage.Â
RECENT HISTORY:Â Campbell and A&T have met 16 times since 2010, with Campbell winning 14 of those matchups, including the most recent on March 20, 2016, a 15-3 Camel victory. A&T's last win over Campbell came on Feb. 18, 2011, a 14-9 win at War Memorial Stadium.Â
