AUBURN, Ala. – North Carolina A&T freshman Icess Tresvik hit two home runs, including a grand slam, as the Aggies defeated the Chattanooga Mocs 9-1 in six innings in the first softball game of the Jane B. Moore Memorial Tournament hosted by Auburn University at Jane B. Moore Field on Friday.
In the Aggies second game of the day, No. 20 Auburn no-hit A&T in a 5-0 win. The Aggies are 9-7 after Friday's action.
The Aggies jumped out to a 1-0 lead over the Mocs after freshman Jailyn Tineo walked with the bases loaded to drive in Macauley. However, an Aggies throwing error allowed the Mocs to tie the game at 1 in the third inning.
Tresvik gave A&T the lead for good with a leadoff home run to center field in the fourth. A&T added four runs in the fifth. Graduate Jazzmaine Hammond reached on a throwing error, and Macauley singled up the middle to put runners on first and second.
A double steal by Hammond and Macauley put the duo in scoring position for freshman Dezianna Patmon. The Mocs walked Patmon, who has three homers on the season, to load the bases with one out.
Tresvik followed with a two-out grand slammer to center to give the Aggies a 6-1 advantage. A&T finished the game scoring three runs in the sixth. Senior Eternal Fuller started the inning with a walk, followed by a Hammond single to left, advancing Fuller to third.
Fuller advanced to second on the throw before sophomore Alyxx Estrada grounded out to short with one out to bring home Fuller. Patmon did get to show off her power in the sixth as she doubled to left to bring home Hammond for an 8-1 lead.
After Tresvik walked, Tineo ended the game with a single through the right side to score Patmon and run-rule the Mocs.
Tresvik went 2-for-3 with two runs scored, five RBI and the two homers. Macauley went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and Tineo went 1-for-2 with two RBI.
Joey Barkhimer (5-0) pitched a complete game, scattering two hits giving up one unearned run with three strikeouts.
In the Auburn game, Estrada provided the only runner with a walk.
Tresvik (1-1) picked up the loss, pitching the first 4.0 innings giving up four runs on three hits with three strikeouts. Freshman Mariah Headen finished the game, pitching 2.0 innings giving up one unearned run on one hit and two strikeouts.
The Tigers scored four runs in the fourth inning to break a scoreless tie with two home runs. Lindsey Garcia provided the game's first runs after a three-run home run to left. Aubrie Lisenby hit a home run to left field two batters later.
Auburn scored the final run in the fifth inning after a suicide squeeze to drive home Carlee McCondichie.
