RADFORD, Va. – Jazmin Harris and Chanin Scott provided the offensive punch the North Carolina A&T women's basketball needed to earn a 77-63 win over Radford in Big South Conference play on Saturday at Dedmon Center.
Harris posted a career-high 24 points on 10-for-17 shooting.
Scott contributed 22 points on 8-for-11 shooting from the field and 3-for-3 from 3-point range. Scott added 11 rebounds to record her seventh double-double of the season and the 11th of her Aggie career.
"We were able to survive a great run by Radford today," A&T coach Tarrell Robinson said. "I'm proud of my team for responding the right way and finishing the game. This was a really good road win."
The Aggies took a 37-24 lead at halftime. In the third quarter, Radford chipped away at that lead, getting it down to three on a Rachel Lalonde 3-pointer to get the Highlanders within three at 39-36 three minutes into the second half.
Graduate forward Kiana Adderton held off the Highlanders with a 3-pointer, but Carmen Williams put the Highlanders down three again with a 3-pointer with 5:18 remaining in the third.
But A&T went on a 7-1 run that included a Faith Blackstone 3-pointer to push the Aggies lead to 49-40.
Radford got layups on consecutive possessions from Ashley Tudor and Bridget Birkhead to get to within five before junior guard Shareka McNeill hit a three to give the Aggies a 52-44 lead going into the fourth quarter.
A&T started the fourth on a 7-2 spurt, but back-to-back threes from the Highlanders made it a seven-point game at 59-52 with 6:32 remaining.
The Highlanders never got any closer. Scott's 3-pointer ignited a 7-0 run that the Highlanders never recovered from the rest of the way.
The Aggies (10-11, 7-4 Big South) have now won seven of their last eight games. In addition, they have won their last four road games. Radford is 5-15 overall and 1-8 in the Big South.
The Aggies took a 4-0 lead early in the game. They scored the first quarter's final six points to take a 19-10 lead. A&T opened the second quarter by outscoring the Highlanders 12-2 to take control of the game before Radford's third-quarter rally.
On Saturday, A&T shot 49.1 percent from the floor, including 46.7 percent from 3-point range.
Birkhead led Radford with 18 points. Tudor added 13 points, shooting 5-for-6 from the floor.
