LAST MEETING: This will be the first all-time meeting between the two schools.

WHO'S HOT: Freshman catcher Canyon Brown has compiled five hits, including two doubles, in his first 11 career at-bats for a .455 average. He has also drawn three walks and has a .647 on-base percentage, second in the Big South Conference. Defensively, Brown has already thrown out five runners attempting to steal.

AGGIES OVERVIEW: The series with UMass Lowell has some question marks. The Aggies decided to move their Friday start time from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. because of field conditions. The hope is to play a Saturday doubleheader because officials expect inclement weather on Sunday. Officials will determine Saturday's status Friday night.

On Wednesday, A&T suffered a 12-2 loss to the No. 21 Liberty Flames in their first midweek contest of the season. The Aggies compiled seven hits but left 10 runners on base.

A&T has three players with a .300-plus batting average in Hennings, Brown and Seaton. All three also have a plus-1.000 on-base plus slugging percentage. Big South head coaches picked the Aggies to finish 10th in the conference preseason poll.

Coach Hall is now in his eighth year at A&T and has an overall 141-194 (.422) record.

RIVER HAWKS OVERVIEW:  Tulane swept the River Hawks last weekend at home. Tulane outscored the River Hawks 27-7 in three games. As members of the America East Conference, the River Hawks are expected to finish sixth.

UMass-Lowell is batting just .206 as a team, but junior outfielder Trey Brown sports a team-best .417 average. Robert Gallagher bats .400 with two home runs and three RBI. He also has a sky-high 1.455 on-base plus slugging percentage.

As far as pitching, they have three players with a perfect 0.00 ERA, led by graduate right-hander Ryan Towle, who has not allowed a run across 4.1 innings pitched. Towle also has a team-best six strikeouts.

Head coach Ken Harring is now in his 18th season as The River Hawks skipper and sports a 416-383-1 record. Harring also spent four seasons at Saint Anselm (2001-2004), where he went 79-109.

News & Notes:

  • The Aggies went 0-3 at home so far this year, but The River Hawks are also 0-3 on the road in 2022.
  • A&T is an extremely young team, with 27 of 38 players (.711) listed as underclassmen.
  • The Aggies are not just young, but they have numerous newcomers. In their starting lineup, seven of the nine players are in their first season at A&T.
  • The River Hawks are a new team, with 20 newcomers on their roster this season.
  • A&T is third in the Big South in team batting average at .250.
  • The Aggies are 88-95 (.481) at home under head coach Ben Hall. The Aggies have, however, had five straight winning seasons inside #TheWar and are 65-41 (.613) during that span.
