LAST MEETING:Â These two teams last met almost exactly a year ago on Feb. 24 in Lynchburg, a 16-2 loss for A&T.
WHO'S HOT: Graduate infielder Alec Seaton got off to a quick start in his A&T career, smacking a double in his first at-bat and following that with a two-run home run in his second plate appearance. The Mount Olive transfer leads A&T in batting average, home runs, RBI and slugging percentage.Â
AGGIES OVERVIEW: A&T is coming off a tough weekend series against Dayton in which they lost all three games by a combined seven runs. This past weekend, seven of the nine players in their lineup made their Aggie debuts.  Â
A&T is looking to capitalize on opportunities. The Aggies have left 34 runners on base through their first three games. They also had runners eliminated from the base paths on pick-off plays. However, the Aggies had some excellent moments on the mound. Freshman right-hander Jaheim Brown pitched 4.1 innings against the Flyers, allowing zero runs on five hits with a team-high seven strikeouts.Â
The bats haven't been too shabby, either, as the Aggies sit third in the Big South in batting average (.260), but they are batting .152 with runners in scoring position.Â
A&T head coach Ben Hall is now in his eighth year at the university. He is 141-193 (.422) during his tenure.Â
FLAMES OVERVIEW:  The Flames are coming off a huge weekend series win at No. 9 Florida. Liberty dropped the Friday matchup but bounced back with two big wins on Saturday and Sunday to clinch the series. As a result, the Flames cracked the top-25 in the D1 Baseball.com poll (21) and the Baseball America poll (18). Â
Junior catcher Gray Betts leads the team with his .364 batting average that earned Atlantic Sun player of the week honors. He has four hits on the year, including a double, with three RBI and two runs scored. He also sports a .429 on-base percentage.Â
The pitching staff, comprised of 12 participating players this season, has combined for a 4.50 ERA through their first three games.Â
Head coach Scott Jackson is coming off back-to-back NCAA postseason berths (2019, 2021) and, in his sixth year, has a 160-94 (.630) overall record.Â
QUOTABLE:Â "It's going to be a big challenge. Playing Liberty always is. Coach Jackson and his staff always produce a high-level team, and, ranked or not, you know they're going to be tough. But, we are excited for another opportunity to compete against the best and take steps forward in our program."Â
