NORTH CAROLINA A&T AGGIES (10-12, 7-5 Big South): A&T fell to Big South leader Campbell 56-48 Tuesday in Corbett Sports Center.
Jazmin Harris led the Aggies for the second consecutive game with 14 points and seven rebounds. Shareka McNeill added 13 points. The Aggies are eager to try to end their two-game home losing streak. The Aggies have never lost three straight at home under head coach Tarrell Robinson. The Aggies have not lost three straight at home since the 2004-05 season when they dropped home games to Hampton, Norfolk State and Delaware State from Jan. 8-15.
Robinson is in his 10th season with a 185-105 (.638) overall record. The Aggies are 97-27 (.782) at Corbett Sports Center under Robinson, and Robinson is 116-34 (.773). Robinson needs seven wins to become the program's all-time leader in wins. Over the last six seasons, A&T has won four regular-season Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) championships and three MEAC tournament titles.
PRESBYTERIAN BLUE HOSE (9-12, 4-7 Big South): Presbyterian fell to Hampton 56-53 Tuesday the last time out in Clinton, S.C.
The Blue Hose has lost four out of its last five, with the only win in that span coming against Charleston Southern on Feb. 5. In those four losses, the Blue Hose shot 28.4 percent (57-for-201) from the field and 18-for-71 (25.4 percent) from 3-point range.
Jade Compton is the only Blue Hose averaging double figures at 16.2 points per game. She also leads the team in rebounding (7.8). Compton had 13 points and seven rebounds in the loss to Hampton. Bracone Maleia finished the game with 19 points on 8-for-15 shooting.
Alaura Sharp is in her fourth season as a head coach and has posted a 39-64 overall record. Last season, Presbyterian finished 11-10 overall, its best record since 2015-16. In addition, their 10-8 Big South record was the best since 2016-17.
THE SERIES: Presbyterian and A&T will play twice in three days after never playing before.
QUOTABLE: "Presbyterian brings a different style that you don't see regularly. With this quick turnaround, we will need to shake off the disappointment of Tuesday's loss and get back to playing Lady Aggie Basketball at home."
Head coach Tarrell Robinson on rebounding from Campbell loss
GAME NOTES:
- The Aggies are averaging only 50.5 points per game at home over the last two games after averaging 87.7 points in their previous three.
- In the Aggies last seven wins, the Aggies are shooting 48.7 percent from the floor, including shooting better than 50 percent in two of those wins.
- Head coach Tarrell Robinson is 15 wins away from 200 A&T coaching victories. It would make him only the third coach – men's or women's basketball – to record 200 A&T wins. He would join Don Corbett and Cal Irvin.
- In conference games only, the Aggies lead the Big South in assists (16.3), and they are second in turnover/assist ratio (1.0).
- Jazmin Harris has scored double figures in 12 of her last 13 games. She averages 14.5 points in that stretch.
- On Tuesday, Chanin Scott's three-point performance snapped her nine-game streak of scoring double figures. She averaged 19.9 points and shot 60.4 percent (67-for-111) over that span.
- Shareka McNeill has won two Big South player of the week honors this season (Dec. 23 and Jan. 31). Scott won co-player of the week on Feb. 7.
- The Aggies will play 10 games in 22 days (Jan. 21 – Feb. 12), including three makeup games that were postponed due to COVID.
