EAST GREENSBORO – The postseason football honors have rolled in, with North Carolina A&T sophomore running back Bhayshul Tuten getting well-deserved recognition for his superb 2022 season.
STATS Perform released its All-American FCS teams on Tuesday, with Tuten earning third-team All-American honors. He is one of five Big South Conference players to earn third-team honors. Two other Big South performers earned second-team honors, and another Big South player secured freshman All-American honors.
STATS is one of many organizations to recognize Tuten during the postseason.
HERO Sports named Tuten to their Sophomore All-American team. The Bluebloods named him Big South Conference player of the year and named him to the Big South's first-team offense. Additionally, BoxToRow named him an honorable mention HBCU All-American.
Additionally, The Bluebloods named center Cesar Minarro, right tackle Tairiq Stewart and guard/center Dacquari Wilson to the Big South's first-team offense. On the defensive side of the ball, The Bluebloods placed defensive end Devin Harrell, linebacker Tyquan King and cornerback Karon Prunty on the Big South first team.
Their second-team players include wide receiver Zach Leslie, offensive guard Korion Sharpe, defensive end Jermaine McDaniel, defensive tackle Shomari Wallace, linebacker Jacob Roberts and return specialist Taymon Cooke.
Joining Tuten on BoxToRow's honorable mention All-American team is McDaniel, King and Prunty.
Tuten, who has announced his intentions to transfer from A&T, rushed for 1,363 yards and 13 touchdowns on 208 carries. It is the fifth-best single-season rushing performance in school history. In addition, Tuten broke the school and conference records for consecutive 100-yard games in a season.
In addition, he tied the conference record for consecutive 100-yard games regardless of the season and broke the school record for 100-yard games in a season. Tuten also caught 31 passes for 572 yards and four touchdowns, giving 1,705 all-purpose yards and 17 touchdowns on 239 touches.
Tuten had a career-high 256 yards rushing and two touchdowns in a come-from-behind win over Campbell on Oct. 29. He earned offensive player of the week twice. Tuten led the conference in all-purpose yards per game (155.0), yards per carry (6.55), rushing touchdowns (13), rushing yards, rushing yards per game (123.9), scoring (9.3), and total touchdowns. He ranks in the top 20 nationally in total touchdowns, scoring, rushing yards per game, rushing yards, rushing touchdowns, rushing yards per carry, and all-purpose yards.
He earned a spot on the Walter Payton Watch List for the best offensive player on the FCS level.
