NORTH CAROLINA A&T AGGIES STORYLINES

  • The North Carolina A&T Department of Athletics will honor head women's basketball coach Tarrell Robinson in a brief ceremony before his team's game against the Cincinnati Bearcats tonight.
  • The tribute will start at 5:45 p.m., as the university family will acknowledge him becoming the program's all-time winningest coach on Nov. 22, 2022, with a 68-49 win over South Carolina State in Orangeburg, S.C.
  • The SCSU win gave Robinson win No. 192 as he broke Tim Abney's record. Abney went 191-172 in his 13 seasons in AggieLand.
  • Robinson is in his 11th season and holds a 193-110 record after the Aggies defeated the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff (UAPB) 64-59 Sunday afternoon at the University of Miami Thanksgiving Tournament in Coral Gables, Fla.
  • Within those 193 wins, Robinson's teams have made three NCAA tournament appearances, three postseason WNIT appearances, and won three conference tournament championships and four regular-season conference championships.
  • Robinson is looking to become the third basketball coach – men or women – to reach 200 wins at A&T, joining legendary men's coaches Cal Irvin and Don Corbett.
  • In addition, he has a 100-27 record in Corbett Sports Center. The Aggies 89-38 win against Mid-Atlantic Christian on Nov. 15 gave Robinson his 100th win at home. He is the only women's basketball coach to accomplish the feat.
  • Maleia Bracone is the only Aggie to score double figures in all six games.
  • Jazmin Harris is shooting 51.9 percent (68-for-131) from the floor in her last 12 games.
  • Nyah Willis is closing in on her 1,000th career point. She has 958 career points, 467 points in one season at Chabot, 443 in two seasons at Presbyterian and 48 at A&T.
  • Willis made her first start as Aggie count as she recorded a game-high 15 points, shooting 5-for-8 from the field and 3-for-4 from 3-point range. Willis added five rebounds and four assists to her totals.

SCOUTING THE CINCINNATI BEARCATS

  • Cincinnati opened the season with an 87-68 loss to No.9/7 Louisville and then won four of the next five games before losing to Charlotte 59-58 last time out in Daytona Beach, Fla.
  • Jillian Hayes received her second career American Athletic Conference (AAC) weekly honor on Monday. She averaged a double-double across three games, scoring 15.33 points per game and grabbing 10.33 rebounds per game.
  • Media and coaches picked to finish ninth in the conference, and they picked Hayes as a preseason second-team selection.
  • Mya Jackson leads the Bearcats with 14.9 points per game to rank eighth in the AAC. Her 3.9 assists per game rank fourth in the league. Hayes averages 14.3 points and leads the team in rebounding at 8.7 boards per game. She is tied for ninth in the ACC in scoring and seventh in rebounding.
  • Michelle Clark-Heard is in her fifth season leading the Bearcats. She has a 69-57 record at Cincy and a 247-237 overall record in 12-plus seasons.

The Series

  • Cincinnati came away with an 87-77 win in double overtime last season in Cincinnati, Ohio, in the first meeting between the two teams.
  • A&T outscored Cincy 21-11 in the fourth quarter to force overtime, and both teams scored six points in the first overtime to send it to the second overtime, where the Bearcats outscored A&T 15-5 for the 10-point victory.

Quotable

"After successfully winning two out of our last three games on the road, we're excited to get back to Corbett to defend our home floor."
