Aggies Postgame Notes vs. Bryant

The Aggies had their first four or more interception game in eight years.

The weather impacted the Aggies attendance, where 7,003 were in attendance. 

The Aggies are now 15-2 at home under head coach Sam Washington. They are 2-0 at home this season. The Aggies won their first 13 games at home under Washington.     

A&T got off to its second straight 1-0 start in the Big South Conference. The Aggies have not lost an opening conference game since 2018. In addition, they have only lost their first conference game in a season twice in the past 10 seasons. 

A&T and Bryant played each for the first time. Bryant is the eighth first-time opponent the Aggies have played over the past two seasons. By the end of the season, the Aggies would have played 10 first-time opponents in the past two seasons. 

The Aggies are now 4-4 as a member of the Big South. The Aggies have won those four games by an average of 11.3 points. 

Before Saturday, the Aggies had never played a team from Rhode Island. The Aggies are moving to the Colonial Athletic Conference (CAA), where Rhode Island University is a member. 

The Aggies had several players return to the lineup on Saturday. Graduate Jermaine McDaniel, an All-MEAC performer in 2019, played his first game of the season as he started at defensive end on Saturday. 

Graduate Amir McNeill returned to the Aggies starting lineup at cornerback after missing the previous two games. 

Junior Mychale Salahuddin returned to the Aggies lineup after missing the previous three games. Salahuddin made the start at rover against N.C. Central in the season opener. 

OFFENSE

Despite playing four quarterbacks this season, the Aggies have only started two different QBs in Zachary Yeager and Jalen Fowler. Yeager has made three starts, and Fowler has made two. 

Bhayshul Tuten rushed for 114 yards and two touchdowns on 27 carries. It marked Tuten'sTuten's fourth straight 100-yard rushing performance. He is one game shy of tying Tarik Cohen'sCohen's school record of five consecutive games from October 3, 2015-Oct. 31, 2015. 

Tuten'sTuten's 27 carries were a career-high. His 30 touches (27 carries, three receptions) were also a career-high. Tuten leads the conference in rushing with 534 yards. He already has more rushing yards than the Aggies leading rusher from last season, 522 by Jah-Maine Martin

A&T coach Sam Washington confirmed Saturday night after the game that quarterback Eli Brickhandler does have a significant knee injury but stopped short of saying he is out for the season. 

Aggies receiver Sterling Brickhandler had five receptions for 63 yards, and a touchdown on nine targets in the Aggies win. Brickhandler recorded career highs in receptions, receiving yards and targets. 

The Aggies have outrushed the last two opponents 479-46. 

A&T has scored points in their last 11 trips to the red zone. Eight of those scores have been touchdowns. The Aggies have scored 11 times in 13 visits to the red zone this season. 

Tuten has touched the ball 98 times this season for 656 all-purpose yards. He is 15th in the nation in all-purpose yards per game (131.2) and second in the conference. 

DEFENSE 

The Aggies held Bryant to 38 yards rushing. It marks the 58th time in the past 12 seasons the Aggies have held an opponent to under 80 yards rushing. In addition, it is the 72nd time the Aggies have held a team under 100 yards rushing over the same span. 

A&T has the No. 1 rushing defense in the Big South and the 16th best run defense nationally. 

Karon Prunty had two interceptions on Saturday, marking the first time since Oct. 26, 2019, that an Aggie has had two interceptions in a game, as Chris Moseley had two against Howard. 

A&T had four interceptions in the game as a team. The last time the Aggies had that many picks in one game occurred on Sept. 20, 2014, when the Aggies intercepted five passes against Chowan. 

All seven of the Aggies interceptions have come in the past three weeks. 

A&T gave up his second straight 100-yard receiving game as London Ruggieri had 110 yards receiving on six receptions a week after Shaquan Davis had 127 yards receiving and a touchdown on six receptions. It marks the first time the Aggies have given up back-to-back 100-yard receiving games since 2019 on November 2 against S.C. State and November 9 against Morgan State. 

The Aggies gave up a season-low 13 points on Saturday. The Aggies have the No. 1 defense in the Big South and the 22nd ranked defense nationally. 

SPECIAL TEAMS 

Sophomore Andrew Brown went 1-for-2 on field goals Saturday. Brown'sBrown's 47-yard attempt was blocked. Brown is now 8-for-10 on the season. Brown leads the Big South in field goals per game (1.60). 

On Saturday, Caleb Brickhouse had his third punt of 50 yards or more this season as he booted a 52-yarder. He punted six times for an average of 39.7 yards.
