BALTIMORE, Md. – The North Carolina A&T Aggies swept a Friday doubleheader against the Coppin State Eagles at Joe Cannon Stadium in Baltimore, Md. in Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) baseball action as the Aggies won 9-2 and 16-7.

The Aggies improved to 14-26 overall and pull even in league play at 9-9, having won four straight after Friday's games.

Senior right-hander Cole Parks (W, 4-2) threw a complete game to open up play on Friday, going 7.0 innings and allowing just two runs, none earned, on three hits with eight strikeouts.

"Good day. Cole got us off to a great start. I really thought we showed a lot of discipline at the plate and ran the bases well," said A&T coach Ben Hall. "We did a good job of continually getting the leadoff guy on and logging quality at-bats all day."

Junior infielder Justin Williams got the scoring going for A&T in Game 1 with an RBI single to score junior outfielder Justin Rodriguez. Rodriguez went 2-for-4 with three RBI and a run scored in the game. Senior infielder Zach McLean smacked a home run and a double in the game to compile his 2-for-4 performance, including two RBI and two runs scored.

Coppin took the lead in the bottom of the first when Coppin's Sebastien Sarabia flew out to center field to score Jordan Hamberg, who drove in a run on an error earlier in the inning, to give the Eagles a 2-1 lead. A&T outscored the Eagles 8-0 the rest of the way.

The Aggies did most of their damage in the second and fourth innings, plating three runs in each frame. McLean launched his two-run homer in the second to give A&T the lead, 3-2. Freshman left-handed pitcher Derek Martinez (W, 1-4) picked up his first win of the season in the second game, going 4.0 innings and giving up three runs, two earned, on five hits with five strikeouts.

The Aggies gave Martinez all the run support he needed, moving 16 scores across the plate throughout the game, a season-high. A&T had two different players record four RBI in the game in Williams and McLean. Williams went 2-for-4 with a double and three runs scored, and McLean went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored. Seven different Aggies recorded an RBI in the game.

A&T scored their first run of the game in the second inning courtesy of a passed ball, but Williams followed in the third with a two-run RBI single to make it 3-0. Coppin scored three runs in the bottom half of the third to tie the game.

From there, the Aggies scored nine unanswered to take a 12-3 lead. A&T smacked 10 hits in the game with six different players recording one, and they were able to take advantage of three errors and three wild pitches en route to the win.

Due to some impending weather coming Saturday night into Sunday morning, the Sunday game has been moved to tomorrow, April 24, and will now be a doubleheader beginning at noon at Joe Cannon Stadium.
