EAST GREENSBORO – For the third time this season, the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) named North Carolina A&T senior setter Edie Brewer its volleyball co-setter of the week, as announced by the conference on Monday.
"Congratulations to Edie on being named setter of the week," A&T coach Hal Clifton said.
"She did a nice job with running the offense this past week. Her decision-making continues to improve, and she is delivering nice balls to her hitters.
We are really proud of her."
Brewer led the team with 7.67 assists per set and averaged 3.0 digs, 1.5 kills and 0.5 service aces while hitting .467 in two three-set sweeps last week at South Carolina State.
She started with a 23-assist, 14-dig double-double. Brewer also posted four kills and a .667 hitting percentage in the win on Thursday. The next day she had 23 assists, four digs, five kills, two service aces and a .333 hitting percentage.
Thus far, the Aggies have received six MEAC weekly awards from four different players. Feb. 8 saw Brewer named setter of the week and junior libero Andrea Laboy-Rivera named defensive specialist of the week.
The following week, Brewer won best setter honors again as junior middle blocker Shaylynn Hall joined her as defensive player of the week. Junior right side hitter Fatimah Shabazz earned the honor of player of the week on Feb. 22.
The Aggies start a four-game homestand with North Carolina Central Thursday at 4 p.m. and Friday at 6 p.m. in Moore Gymnasium.
