NORTH CAROLINA A&T (14-7, 6-3 BIG SOUTH): The Aggies scored a critical 3-1 road win at Winthrop Tuesday night as two school records fell during the match. Andrea Laboy-Rivera set a single-match record with 39 digs and N.C. A&T set a single-match record with 119 digs.

N.C. A&T enters the match Friday tied for third place in the Big South standings with Winthrop and USC Upstate.

This season, N.C. A&T has out-blocked their opponents in 15 of the 21 matches, including eight Big South matches. The Aggies are one win away from guaranteeing at least a .500 record for the sixth straight season. 

Head coach Hal Clifton is 69-50 (.580) since 2017. The Aggies under Clifton are 40-11 (.784) against conference competition since 2017. The Aggies have finished .500 or better every season since 2017 under Clifton. 

GARDNER-WEBB BULLDOGS (7-11, 4-4 BIG SOUTH): Gardner-Webb started conference play 4-1 but has lost three of the last four matches, including a 3-0 loss to Campbell the previous time out. Kylee Garrison leads the Bulldogs in kills per set (3.10), and Tori Weatherley is the team's leader in assists per set (5.12). Mikah McIntosh averages 5.05 digs per set, and Hannah Donaldson leads the Bulldogs with 0.81 blocks per set.     

 Eric Plunkett is in his first season as the head coach after being hired in May 2021. He served as an associated head coach and recruiting coordinator at Illinois State since 2012.

THE SERIES: Gardner-Webb leads the series 12-6, but the Aggies won the last meeting 3-1 in 2019 at the Wofford Invitational in Spartanburg, S.C., and has won two of the previous three meetings.

• Shaylynn Hall's 87 block assists this season. She needs eight block assists to move into third-place on the single-season list. 
• Mallory Porcher has 70 block assists this season and needs nine to move into 10th place on the school's single-season list.

• Edie Brewer needs four kills to move into sixth place past Samara Brown's (2014-17) 869. Brewer ranks seventh all-time in block assists with 200. 
• Brewer's 166 service aces put her 20 behind Brenden Chatman (2004-07) for second place. She needs 15 digs to record her 1,000 for her career
• Addy Warfield has 1,027 assists and needs 14 to move into eighth place, past Tara Cote.
• Shaylynn Hall has 229 block assists to rank sixth in school history. Hall trails Steffani Eddins (2002-03) by two blocks assists for third place. Hall has 42 solo blocks and needs three more to move past Jasmine Lindor.
• Andrea Laboy-Rivera is 10th all-time with 72 service aces and needs four services aces to move into ninth past Aleena McDaniel (2012-15). Laboy-Rivera has 1,349 digs and needs 104 to move into second place past Lauren Walker (2004-06). 
• Fatimah Shabazz has 154 block assists to rank eighth in school history and needs 35 block assists to move into seventh, occupied by Mara Davis (1996-99).
