EAST GREENSBORO – North Carolina A&T head baseball coach
Ben Hall announced new members to his coaching staff on Friday.Â
Â
Elliott McCummings will join the staff as the No. 2 assistant.
Breydan Gorham will assume the volunteer assistant role.Â
Â
"Thrilled to add Elliott to our staff," said Hall. "He has done a great job at all his stops and deserves this opportunity. He is organized and will bring a great presence to our recruiting efforts."Â
Â
McCummings comes to A&T after spending one year as a volunteer assistant at Austin Peay State University.Â
Â
While with the Governors, he worked with outfielders and hitters and assisted with base running. McCummings also served as the camp director.Â
Â
Similarly, at A&T, he will coach the outfielders and assist with the Aggie offense. He will also spearhead the Blue and Gold recruiting efforts.Â
Â
"I'm grateful for this opportunity to be a part of a successful program like North Carolina A&T," said McCummings. "I'm super excited to get started and work toward a Big South (Conference) championship."Â
Â
McCummings brings a year's worth of Big South knowledge to A&T, having spent one season at Radford as the volunteer assistant. The Highlanders posted a 30-7 record in that stint, including a 19-8 mark in Big South play.
Â
"Elliott is a worker and a teacher," said Hall. "I'm thrilled for the guys to get to work with him going forward on a daily basis."Â
Volunteer Assistant Coach Breydan Gorham
Â
Gorham will coach the A&T catchers and serve as the camp director and assist in all aspects of the program.Â
Â
"We're thrilled to have Breydan join our staff and to help him start his coaching career," said Hall. "He was a standout player at two good programs and has a great future ahead in coaching. In addition, he comes from a baseball family and has deep local roots."
Â
Gorham played at both Appalachian State and UNC-Wilmington during his playing career. In four seasons at UNCW, he finished with a 4.99 ERA in 45 appearances with 71 strikeouts. At App State, he led the staff with a 4.21 ERA as a true freshman in 2016.Â
Â
His dad, Rodriguez Gorham, played at Elon and is the head coach at nearby Dudley High School.Â
