Baseball Announces New Staff Additions

A&T head baseball coach Ben Hall announced the changes to his staff earlier this week.

EAST GREENSBORO – North Carolina A&T head baseball coach Ben Hall announced new members to his coaching staff on Friday.

Elliott McCummings will join the staff as the No. 2 assistant. Breydan Gorham will assume the volunteer assistant role.

"Thrilled to add Elliott to our staff," said Hall. "He has done a great job at all his stops and deserves this opportunity. He is organized and will bring a great presence to our recruiting efforts."

McCummings comes to A&T after spending one year as a volunteer assistant at Austin Peay State University.

While with the Governors, he worked with outfielders and hitters and assisted with base running. McCummings also served as the camp director.

Similarly, at A&T, he will coach the outfielders and assist with the Aggie offense. He will also spearhead the Blue and Gold recruiting efforts.

"I'm grateful for this opportunity to be a part of a successful program like North Carolina A&T," said McCummings. "I'm super excited to get started and work toward a Big South (Conference) championship."

McCummings brings a year's worth of Big South knowledge to A&T, having spent one season at Radford as the volunteer assistant. The Highlanders posted a 30-7 record in that stint, including a 19-8 mark in Big South play.

"Elliott is a worker and a teacher," said Hall. "I'm thrilled for the guys to get to work with him going forward on a daily basis."
Breydan Gorham
Volunteer Assistant Coach Breydan Gorham

Gorham will coach the A&T catchers and serve as the camp director and assist in all aspects of the program.

"We're thrilled to have Breydan join our staff and to help him start his coaching career," said Hall. "He was a standout player at two good programs and has a great future ahead in coaching. In addition, he comes from a baseball family and has deep local roots."

Gorham played at both Appalachian State and UNC-Wilmington during his playing career. In four seasons at UNCW, he finished with a 4.99 ERA in 45 appearances with 71 strikeouts. At App State, he led the staff with a 4.21 ERA as a true freshman in 2016.

His dad, Rodriguez Gorham, played at Elon and is the head coach at nearby Dudley High School.
