Aggies Lose Close Out Spring Games

N.C. A&T lost to Charleston Southern and Long Island.

LONGWOOD, Fla. – North Carolina A&T (4-19) dropped both games Sunday at the Spring Games played at Boombah Soldier Creek Field. 
The Aggies lost their first game, 7-1, to Charleston Southern. Long Island defeated the Aggies 8-0 in the second game. 

Junior designated player Hailee Cutts went 3-for-5 in both games. Junior catcher Samantha Ramirez went a combined 2-for-6 with a run scored and an RBI.

Freshman Kayla Brown gave up two earned runs on three hits in 3.1 innings pitched. Freshman Kayla Douglas gave up five earned runs posted on 12 hits in seven innings pitched. 
Against Charleston So., Freshman Latianna Langley, Ramirez and sophomore shortstop each went 1-for-3. Douglas (1-7) picked up the loss.  

Charleston So., scored a run in the top of the first inning after an RBI single for a 1-0 lead. Ramirez hit a solo home run over the left field fence to tie the game at one in the Aggies half of the first. The Buccaneers scored three runs in the second inning after an error allowed a run to score. A two-run error by Langley as the ball popped out of her glove with two outs allowed two more runs to cross for a 4-1 Bucs lead.

Charleston So., scored another run in the fourth inning after a sacrifice fly to increase their lead to 5-1. They scored the final two runs in the seventh inning after an RBI single and another sac fly.

The Bucs were led by Brookylnn Brewington going 3-for-4 with three runs scored. Annah Junge (7-4) picked up the win pitching the first five innings giving up one run on two hits.
In the second game, Cutts went 3-for-3. Junior Bayleigh Kirby (2-7) picked up the loss pitching the first 3.2 innings giving up six runs on 10 hits.

LIU scored a run in the first inning after an RBI single and another run in the second inning after an RBI single for a 2-0 lead. The Sharks scored four runs in the fourth inning after an RBI double, two-run single, and another RBI double for a 6-0 lead.

The Aggies had an opportunity in the bottom half of the inning. Ramirez started the inning with an infield single between short and third base. Cutts followed with a single to the same place to put runners on first and second with no outs.

Varela was hit-by-a-pitch to load the bases with no outs. But the Aggies went down in order from there to end the threat. 
Long Island scored their final two runs in the seventh.

The Sharks were led by Kiana Cisneros who went 4-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored, In the circle, Tallie Woodson (5-4) picked up the win pitching the first six shutout innings giving up five hits.

The Aggies are back at home with a three-game series against Furman this weekend. N.C. A&T plays a single game Friday at 4 p.m. and a doubleheader Saturday starting at 1 p.m.
