RALEIGH, N.C. – The N.C. A&T Aggies held a 7-5 lead into the ninth inning but could not hold on and fell 8-7 to the No. 9 N.C. State Wolfpack Wednesday.
Senior
Michael Johnson (1-3) came out of the bullpen for N.C. A&T (7-9) and took the loss. Senior
Leon Davidson was a bright spot for the Aggies, coming out of the bullpen as well and throwing 1.2 scoreless innings, allowing two hits, with no walks and four strikeouts.
At the plate, the Aggies were paced by senior
Dustin Baber, who went 2-for-4 on the day with three RBIs. Senior
Shane Faulk put together a standout performance at the dish as well, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI. Junior
Justin Rodriguez also contributed for N.C. A&T, putting together two hits in four trips to the plate while adding an RBI.
The Aggies lost despite scoring in six different innings in the ballgame, last holding the lead in the ninth inning at 7-6. N.C. A&T's biggest output came in its two-run eighth inning. The Aggies added their two runs when a single from Baber scored Faulk and sophomore
Tony Mack.
