Tough Second Half Leads to Aggies Loss

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The North Carolina A&T men's basketball team lost to Florida A&M, 79-60, on Monday night in Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) men's basketball action. Ronald Jackson had a team-high 14 points.
 
N.C. A&T drops to 12-14 overall and 8-3 in the MEAC.
 
Sophomore Tyrone Lyons hauled in a team-high eight rebounds to go with his seven points. Junior guard Tyler Maye had 11 points and senior guard Andre Jackson posted 10 points to round out double-figure scoring for the Aggies. Junior guard Kameron Langley had eight points and eight assists.
 
N.C. A&T quickly fell behind 10-2 to open up the game, but stormed back to tie it at 14. FAMU (9-13, 7-4 MEAC) took the lead right back on a bucket from MJ Randolph and extend their lead to seven, 25-18. Randolph led all scorers with 18 points. From that point, the Aggies executed a 13-0 run to take a 31-25 lead into the locker room.
 
The second half is where things started to go wrong for N.C. A&T. They were outscored 54-29 in the period and shot just 30.6 percent from the field as a team. The Aggies also shot just 1-for-10 from the free throw line in the second half.
 
With N.C. A&T leading 40-38, the Rattlers went on a 10-0 run to claim the lead with 13:08 remaining in the contest. FAMU outscored the Aggies 31-20 from that point to claim the victory. The Aggies never got closer than five after the Rattlers run.
 
Next up, the Aggies will have a week off before taking on N.C. Central on Monday, Feb. 17 at the Corbett Sports Center at 7 p.m.
