EAST GREENSBORO – The North Carolina A&T men's basketball team fell to the UNC Greensboro (UNCG) Spartans, 86-65, inside the Corbett Sports Center Tuesday evening in the Aggies' final non-conference game of the season.

"Trying to get ready each and every game is tough," said N.C. A&T coach Will Jones. "But there are no excuses. Hopefully, over Christmas break, we'll get some time to heal."

The Aggies played the game tonight without preseason All-MEAC guard Tyler Maye, junior guard Blake Harris, and All-Rookie guard Fred Cleveland, Jr.

Even without those ballhandlers, everything looked fine in the first half for N.C. A&T.

UNCG enjoyed their largest lead of the first half at 30-19 with 5:40 left to play. A 3-pointer from sophomore stretch big Harry Morrice ignited the Aggies on an 8-0 to cut the deficit to three, 30-27. Back-to-back 3-pointers from the Spartans pushed it back to nine, but A&T junior forward Quentin Jones nailed a three of his own, and graduate transfer Tyler Jones made a layup in the final seconds to cut it UNCG's lead to four, 38-34, at the break.

Things turned sour for the Aggies quickly in the second half. UNCG came out swinging in the second half. Before the first media timeout, the Spartans (5-3) had already outscored the Aggies 18-5. Over the next minute, UNCG grew their lead to 61-39.

Sophomore Spartan guard Keyshaun Langley, the brother of Aggies guard Kameron Langley, the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) preseason player of the year, scored or assisted on 16 of the 23 points over the run and finished with 13 points, a team-high nine assists and four rebounds.

The Aggies made just 8 of 33 field goals in the second half. UNCG outrebounded N.C. A&T 63-43 N.C. A&T and UNCG's 24 offensive rebounds led to 21 second-chance points. The Aggies did attempt 38 free throws but made only 22 of them.

"It's in the stats," said Jones. "Minus-20 on the rebounds, 22-for-38 from the free-throw line, it's just not good enough to get it done. If we make our free throws, even if they have the 24 offensive rebounds, it's still a close game."

A bright spot for the Aggies was senior Kameron Langley, who became just the 82nd player in NCAA history to record 700 or more career assists. With nine on the night, he now has 702.

He also had a team-high 12 points and eight rebounds to go with four steals. Junior wing Tyrone Lyons had a good game with 11 points and eight rebounds. Senior guard Kwe Parker was the other Aggie in double-figure scoring with his 10 points.

Junior forward Mohammed Abdulsalam led the way for UNCG with 15 points and eight rebounds. The Aggies will have a couple of weeks off for the holidays before hitting the floor again on Jan. 2 against S.C. State in Orangeburg, S.C.
