AGGIES OVERVIEW: The Aggies will try to have their home opener Sunday afternoon in the final scheduled game for 2020 after postponing their original home opener on Thursday. After one game, senior forward
Jayla Jones-Pack leads the NCAA with six blocks. She also had four points, four rebounds and three assists in the Aggies loss to UNC Greensboro on Dec. 14. Freshman guard
D'Mya Tucker led the team with 12 points and three rebounds. Graduate student guard
Chanin Scott had nine points, 11 rebounds and three steals against the Spartans. Senior forward
Deja Winters finished with four points, three rebounds and four steals.
ELON OVERVIEW: Elon bounced back with a 72-64 win against Furman after losing to No. 4 N.C. State 76-47 previously. Before playing the Aggies Sunday, Elon defeated UNCG. Ariel Colón and Brie Perpignan lead the Phoenix with 9.8 points per game each. EvonnaMcGrill leads the Phoenix in rebounding at 4.3 per game while also averaging 8.3 points per game. Elon holds a slight advantage 7-6 over the Aggies, but the Aggies have a 5-3 record against Elon at Corbett. Elon has won the last two games snapping a five-game winning streak by the Aggies.
Young Team: The Aggies have one of the youngest teams in the country. The average age of the Aggies is 19.5-years old. That is tied for the sixth youngest team in the country along with UNLV. Oral Roberts, LaSalle, Incarnate Word and Montana State all have younger teams at 19.3 N.C. A&T has 10 student-athletes that are either 18 or 19 years old. The Aggies feature seven true freshmen and are tied for the fourth-most in the country behind Oral Roberts, Incarnate Word and Penn State.
Career Watch: With six blocks against UNC Greensboro in the opener, Jones-Pack moved into the top-15 in school history with 41 career blocks. She needs nine blocks to move into 14th held by April Mcrae (2013-16).
Up Next: The Aggies start MEAC play in the New Year with a trip to Orangeburg, S.C. N.C. A&T faces S.C. State Saturday and on Sunday before returning home for a three-game homestand.
