EAST GREENSBORO – Junior guard
Kameron Langley led the North Carolina A&T Aggies to a 123-61 home win over Mid-Atlantic Christian at Corbett Sports Center on Friday afternoon.
Langley posted his fourth career double-double with 10 points and 11 assists. He was one assist shy of his career-high as he recorded his first double-figure assist game this season. Langley also had four steals.
The Aggies (4-11) improve to 3-1 at home thus far this season as the head into conference play 7:30 p.m., Monday against Florida A&M at Corbett Sports Center. N.C. A&T has won 17 straight home conference games dating back to the 2017-18 season.
"I thought the guys competed," said N.C. A&T acting head coach Will Jones. "They followed the gameplan for 40 minutes. I think everyone bought into what were trying to do and that's what we want to see night in and night out."
The Aggies 123 points on Friday are the most points they have scored since scoring 124 against Southern Virginia in 2007. The school record for points in a game is 130 in 1967. N.C. A&T's margin of victory of 62 points is their most lopsided win since defeating Morgan State 130-62 in 1962.
The Aggies had seven players in double-figures led by senior big man
Devin Haygood with a career-high 19 points. Freshman
Fred Cleveland, Jr. and senior
Ronald Jackson had 16 apiece. Freshman
Harry Morrice added a career-high 12 points and eight rebounds.
Tyler Maye had 11 points and
Andre Jackson finished with 10.
The Aggies played stellar defense forcing Mid-Atlantic Christian (MACU) into 26 turnovers which led to 34 points. N.C. A&T swiped a season-high 17 steals as a team
Darus Maddox, Maye and
Ronald Jackson had three apiece. N.C. A&T dominated inside, scoring 80 points in the paint.
The Aggie defense forced MACU (4-8) into 16 turnovers in the first half to shift the tide. N.C. A&T led 8-7 with 16:47 remaining in the first half before a 12-2 spurt increased their lead to 20-9. They pushed their lead to as much as 23 after a
Ronald Jackson layup with just over four minutes left in the half. The Aggies would take a 48-29 advantage into the locker room.
The Aggies bench players provided a huge lift in the second half scoring 48 points in total led by Cleveland's 14-point second half effort. N.C. A&T's lead fluttered around 20 points for the first six minutes of the second half. The Aggies went on a 9-0 run over the next two minutes to push their edge to 31, 76-45.
A few minutes later, N.C. A&T's offense executed a 25-0 explosion to claim a 103-52 advantage. The Aggies forced six turnovers over the huge run.
"We're going to go back and watch film," said Jones. "We have to get ready for FAMU on Monday."
