Hill Earns Her Second Defensive Honor

Hill has 514 rebounds and 96 blocks in her career.

EAST GREENSBORO – North Carolina A&T senior Le'on Hill was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) defensive player of the week in women's basketball as announced by the conference on Tuesday.

"Le'on has consistently shown to be one of the most impactful defensive players in our league," N.C. A&T coach Tarrell Robinson said.  "This acknowledgment for a second time shows that her efforts are being noticed."

This is Hill's second defensive weekly honor from the conference this season. She earned the same honor on Dec. 17.

Last week, Hill averaged 12.5 rebounds, 3.5 blocks, 5.5 points, 3.5 assists and 2.0 steals in two games last week as the Aggies went 1-1. She started the weekend with nine rebounds and eight points to go along with three steals, three assists and two blocks in an 84-38 win at Coppin State, Saturday.

Hill followed up with her best defensive performance this season with 16 rebounds, five blocks and a steal. The 16 rebounds tied a career and the five blocks were a career high.  She recorded 16 rebounds against Western Carolina on Dec. 19, 2017.

Hill's 25 rebounds last week gave her 514 for her career. She ranks seventh all-time in school history in blocks with 96. This season, she leads the team in rebounding (6.9) and ranks seventh in the MEAC. She is second in the league in blocks (1.5). Against conference opponents, she is averaging 8.2 rebounds and 1.6 blocks.

The Aggies return home for a four-game homestand starting with Bethune-Cookman Saturday at 2 p.m. and Delaware State at 5:30 p.m. in Corbett Sports Center.
