A&T Moves Upward National Polls

GREENSBORO (September 13, 2016) – North Carolina A&T made major moves in the polls and became black college football's unanimous No. 1 this week after their 39-36 four-overtime win over FBS foe Kent State on Saturday.

The Aggies jumped five places in both the FCS STATS Media Poll and the NCAA FCS Coaches' Poll this week. The Aggies are ranked 18th in the media poll and 19th in the coaches' poll. The Aggies are followed in the media poll by Portland State, Youngstown State, Villanova, New Hampshire, Colgate, Northern Arizona and Albany. North Dakota State is still the No. 1 team followed by Richmond, Sam Houston State, Jacksonville State and Illinois State in the Top-5.

In the coaches' poll, the Aggies are followed by Youngstown State, Southern Utah, Harvard, Colgate, Northern Arizona and Albany. The Top-5 in the coaches' poll are North Dakota State, Richmond, Sam Houston State, Chattanooga and Illinois State.

The black college polls were just as friendly to N.C. A&T's historic win. The Aggies are the unanimous No. 1 in the both the Boxtorow HBCU Football Coaches' Poll and the Sheridan Broadcasting Network Black College Media Poll.

All 20 first-place votes went to the Aggies in the Boxtorow coaches' poll. They are followed by Bethune-Cookman, Alcorn State, Grambling State and Prairie View A&M in the Top-5. In Boxtorow's media poll, the Aggies received 10 of 12 first-place votes to earn the No. 1 spot.

SBN's 30 first-place votes went to N.C. A&T. tackles with 12 of those tackles unassisted. The Aggies are followed Alcorn State, Bethune-Cookman, Prairie View A&M and Grambling State in the Top-5.

N.C. A&T returns to action this week against another FBS school as they travel to Tulsa, Okla., to face the Tulsa Golden Hurricane at 2 p.m., Saturday at H.A. Chapman Stadium.
