Aggies Fall to Nationally-Ranked Wolfpack

RALEIGH (April 24, 2016) – The North Carolina A&T/N.C. State baseball series returned to Raleigh on Sunday with the No. 8 Wolfpack coming away with a 25-1 win. It was the Aggies most lopsided loss of the season. The first game of the three-game series was cancelled, but the Wolfpack did take the final two games.

Three Aggies had two hits apiece as sophomore Milton Rivera, freshman Jarrett Norman and junior Timothy Ravare all went 2-for-4. Rivera drove in the Aggies only run and Ravare scored the lone run.

Meanwhile the Wolfpack pounded out 22 hits on the day to improve to 28-11 on the season. Joe Dunand went 3-for-4 with six RBI. The Aggies threw eight pitchers at the Wolfpack on Sunday. Right-hander Will Greene (1-7) took the loss after making the start, while Brian Brown (5-1) picked up the win after pitching five innings.

N.C. A&T's only run came in the eighth when Ravare led the inning by reaching second on a throwing  error by N.C. State reliever Tim Naughton. Norman followed with a single that moved Ravare to third. Rivera helped the Aggies avoid the shutout with a single up the middle.

The Aggies (9-33) now have some serious business to take care of in conference play as they try to make a push to get into the top-3 of the MEAC southern division. The Aggies are 3-12 in the MEAC with nine conference games remaining. N.C. A&T starts a three-game series with Bethune-Cookman at War Memorial Stadium on Saturday, April 30 with a 1 p.m., doubleheader. The series closes out the following day at 1 p.m.

They also host a three-game series against Savannah State (May 7-8) before closing the season with a three-game series at Florida A&M (May 13-14), the top team in the southern division. Before playing Bethune-Cookman this weekend the Aggies will travel to Clinton, S.C., to face Presbyterian 4 p.m., Wednesday.
