BUIES CREEK (March 20, 2016) – Campbell completed a three-game sweep of the North Carolina A&T baseball team by defeating the Aggies 15-3 Sunday afternoon at Jim Perry Stadium. The Aggies left 12 men on base in a game where the Camels committed six errors.
James Rorie led the Aggies with two RBI. Sophomore Forest Kimbrell went 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI. Sophomore Myles Sowell had his ninth multiple-hit game by going 2-for-5. He leads the team in that category.
Unfortunately, the Camels got to starter Kaeson Wilson (RHP) early. The Camels (11-10) took over the first four innings of the game with 13 hits and seven walks. That led to all 15 of Campbell's runs being scored in the first four innings.
The Aggies three runs were also scored over the first four innings. The Aggies (4-17) got on the board in their second as Kimbrell grounded out to third to allow junior Kyle Clary to score from third. N.C. A&T struck again in the second with two outs in the inning. Dawnoven Smith started the rally by walking on a 3-2 count. Kimbrell put runners on first and second with a single which set up Rorie's two-run RBI double to right center.
Wilson (1-3) took the loss, but RHP K.J. McAlister pitched a hitless and scoreless eighth inning and LHP A.J. Padmore did the same. Campbell's M Horrell (2-3) picked up the win after pitching eight innings, giving up two earned runs and striking out four over 98 pitches thrown. Kimbrell and Milton Rivera had four hits apiece in the series to lead the Aggies.
N.C. A&T returns to Greensboro for their next contest as they will take on UNC Greensboro and the Greensboro Grasshoppers' NewBridge Bank Park Stadium in downtown Greensboro at 6 p.m.
