Aggies Win Another MEAC Series

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Make it 2-for-2 for the North Carolina A&T baseball team. The Aggies went through nine Bethune-Cookman pitchers on their way to a 12-8 win Sunday afternoon at Jackie Robinson Park.

The win gave the Aggies (8-10, 4-2 MEAC) their second conference series win as they took two out of three from the Wildcats. The Aggies also took two out of three from N.C. Central in February.  A&T took two out of three from the Wildcats in a three-game series format in back-to-back seasons for the first time.

Senior Luke Tendler led the way from the leadoff spot. He went 3-for-5 with five RBI and a run scored. Brandon Mitchell and Bo McMillan drove in two runs apiece.

The Aggies trailed 2-1 going into their fourth. But they would take control of the game from there. McMillan started the fun with a one-out, two-run RBI double down the left field line to score Stefan Jordan and Lester Salcedo.

Bethune-Cookman right-hand starter Scott Garner struck out the Aggies next batter, Dylan Hipp. The Aggies would then put together an impressive two-out rally. Tendler initiated it with a two-run RBI single to score Kyle Clary and McMillan to give A&T 5-2 lead. Tendler moved into scoring position by stealing second. After Garner walked Wilkerson, the Wildcats made the first of eight pitching changes as RHP Michael Thomasson replaced Garner.

The first batter he faced was Aggies slugger Cameron Jergens. Jergens singled to right to score Tendler for a 6-2 lead. Thomasson walked the bases loaded by giving a free pass to Salcedo. Brandon Mitchell responded with a two-run RBI single to left to close out the Aggies scoring in a 7-run fourth that gave A&T an 8-2 lead.
