MEN'S BASKETBALL PREVIEW
When: Monday, January 30
at 8 p.m., vs. Delaware State
Where: Corbett Sports
Center
Must See: Three-point
shooting. The Aggies seem to have found their rhythm from 3-point range. Over
the last two games, North Carolina A&T has taken 59 3-pointers over its
last two games. The Aggies are not only taking the threes, they are hitting
them. The Aggies have connected on 46 percent of their threes over their last
two games, and it resulted in the Aggies scoring more than 90 points both
times. The Aggies have proven to be hard to beat when they score 80 or more
points. Over the last three seasons, the Aggies are 17-3 when they score 80 or
more. They will have difficult time scoring 80 points tonight. The Hornets only
allow opponents to score 65.4 points per game. The Aggies have won their last
three games over the Hornets.
Delaware State: Delaware State coach
Greg Jackson will be coaching in his 30th game against North Carolina
A&T tonight. Jackson has been with the Hornets for 12 seasons, but he also
coached at N.C. Central during the early-to-mid 90's. Jackson is 12-8 against
the Aggies as the Hornets' coach and 18-11 in the previous 29 games he has
coached against A&T. His Delaware State Hornets are coming off of a 76-70
win over N.C. Central on Saturday. Forward Casey Walker led the way with 20
points on 7-for-7 shooting from the free throw line. The backcourt of Jay Threat
and Tahj Tate are major weapons for the Hornets. Threat averages better than five
assists per game, while Tate leads the team in scoring (15.2 ppg).
He's Heating Up: Senior Marc Hill is
playing as well as he has ever played as an Aggie. Hill has scored 20 points in
consecutive games, while shooting a combined 8-for-12 in those games. On Saturday,
he hit all four of his 3-point attempts, and in the Aggies win over Coppin
State last week, he assisted on the Adrian Powell's game-winning 3-pointer in
overtime. During conference play, Hill is averaging 13.4 points per game and
shooting 44.4 percent from 3-point range. What is more impressive is Hill's 23
assists against just 11 turnovers in seven MEAC games.
