GREENSBORO - There is a lot of newness surrounding the North Carolina A&T football team this season. There is new coach Rod Broadway who comes to N.C. A&T after winning a Black College National Championship apiece at N.C. Central and Grambling State. Then there is the new press box going up at Aggie Stadium.
But there is nothing more exciting than a new football season. The Aggies report to camp Friday with physicals and meetings. The first practice starts Saturday evening at 4.
"I don't know how well we will compete against people this year," said Broadway. "I don't know where we stand. But I do know we've got to get better and that includes everybody, even me."
The Aggies are coming off of a 1-10 2010 season. They have five starters returning on offense and seven starters returning on defense. Among the offensive starters returning are first-team All-MEAC running back Mike Mayhew, four-year starter at center Brent Walker and receiver Wallace Miles.
On the defensive side, the Aggies return two-time all-conference safety Justin Ferrell and cornerback D'Vonte Graham. Graham led the MEAC in interceptions last season.
