NORFOLK, Va. - North Carolina A&T's chances of earning a berth to the MEAC Softball Tournament took a big blow Sunday afternoon as Norfolk State defeated the Aggies 9-0 at NSU Softball Field. The Aggies will close out the season with a three-game series against Bethune-Cookman, the top team in the MEAC Southern Division.
The Aggies will have to win out against the Wildcats, and hope to get help from others in order to make the trip to Daytona Beach, Fla., May 12-14. On Sunday, the Aggies were led by senior Ryanne Hill who went 2-for-3.
Danielle Wright led the Spartans by going 2-for-4 with a home run, three RBIs and three runs scored. Whitney Holland added two hits and three RBIs. The Aggies (7-32, 1-7) begin their series against B-CU Saturday at 1 p.m., with a doubleheader from the Lady Aggies Softball Complex. The final game of the series is Sunday at noon, where the Aggies will honor Hill, their lone senior.
