JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. - North Carolina A&T picked up a win during the second day of the Buccaneer Softball Challenge played at East Tennessee State's Betty Basler Field. The Aggies defeated conference foe S.C. State 9-3 in a non-conference matchup.
The Aggies also lost to Pittsburgh 15-0 on Saturday.
Tiffany Macklin led the Aggies with two hits, two RBIs and two runs scored. Sabrina Edwards also had two hits and two RBIs.
N.C. A&T took over the game in the fifth inning. Detavia Kenan opened the inning with an infield single. Macklin then blasted a two-run homer to left field to give the Aggies a 2-1 lead. Morgan Chappell kept the rally going by singling to right field. Sabrina Edmonds put runners on third and second with a double to right center.
Dominique Smith drove both runners home with a two-run RBI double. The Aggies took a 5-1 lead when Lauren Clement singled up the middle to score Smith.
Fletcher earned the win on the mound for the Aggies. After giving up a two-out walk Grochow, she got Riley to line out to third to end the game.
