HIGH POINT - High Point got off to a fast start and defeated the North Carolina A&T baseball team 16-2 Friday afternoon at Williard Stadium. Luke Tendler led the Aggies with three hits.
Junior pitcher Esterlin Paulino (2-1) lost his first start since April 10, 2010. Paulino did have six strike outs on the day.
The Panthers scored six runs in the first inning to set the pace. The Aggies did strike first in the game. Tendler posted a one-out single to left field. Junior Xavier Macklin put runners on first and second with a single to right field. After a passed ball moved the runners into scoring position, Marquis Riley brought Tendler home with a sacrifice fly to center field.
The Aggies other run came in an RBI double from Ryan Carlton. The Aggies dropped to 6-9 on the season, while the Panthers improved to 8-7.
