GREENSBORO - North Carolina A&T sophomore Jeana Daniels had another strong offensive performance,  matching a career high with a team-best 13 kills on Sunday afternoon against Coppin State.   But despite her offensive output, the Aggies volleyball team was swept by the Eagles in three games, 25-15, 25-20 and 25-10, at Corbett Sports Center. 

"We started slow, but started to find a rhythm in the end of the first set, and it continued through the second," said N.C. A&T head coach Hal Clifton.  "I was pleased with our first two sets, but we didn't compete in the third. We had some matchups that we like, but got out of sorts with our passing in the third."

The Eagles were tough competition, collecting 40 kills, and committing just 11 attack errors.  Coppin State's Christina Epps posted a strong .643 attack percentage, collecting 10 kills in 14 total attacks with just one error.  N.C. A&T posted a .097 attack percentage compared to Coppin State's  .358 attack percentage. 

Leading the way for the Aggies (1-23) on Sunday was Daniels.  Daniels has been emerging as a strong force on the attack in the last few matches.  She had 12 kills on Oct. 18 against Elon, and Daniels last totaled 13 kills on Oct. 16 against Savannah State.

Six of Daniels' 13 kills on Sunday came in Set 1, as she helped keep the Aggies competitive in the opening match.  Daniels posted the first N.C. A&T point with a kill off a serve by Ariel Richard.  The eighth, ninth, 10th and 11^th points for the Aggies came off kills by Daniels.  Sophomore Devonte' Reese also had a solid first set, collecting three kills in a row to help the Aggies put the pressure on the Eagles (5-18) late in the set.         

In Set 2, Daniels collected five kills.  The Aggies were awarded a number of points off attack and service errors by the Eagles in the second set.  The Aggies showed strong defensive skills in the second, making a match-high three blocks. 

The Aggies struggled in the opening of Set 3 as Coppin State went on a 12-0 run to take a 14-1 lead.  A kill by Daniels gave the Aggies their second point of the set, and then she blocked an attack with Williams to earn a third point for the Aggies.  Daniels added to the A&T point total with a pair of service aces later in the set.

N.C. A&T will be gearing up for next week's conference showdown with rival N.C. Central on Sunday, Oct. 30.  The match begins at 2 p.m., at Corbett Sports Center, and the Aggies will be playing in their Dig Pink Match in recognition of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
