There is a lot freshman Tatiana Cooper has yet to learn. But she certainly looked good learning it on Friday night. The Chicago native hammered 14 kills to the floor to lead the North Carolina A&T volleyball team to a 3-0 win (25-15, 25-22, 25-12) over Savannah State at Corbett Sports Center.

Cooper put together a .619 hitting percentage after producing just one attack error. Eight of Cooper's 14 kills came in the third set when she did not make an attack error on 10 attempts.

"She did a great job of finding the point tonight,'' said head coach Toni Conway. "She also did a great job of turning over some sets, and taking control of her position."

The Tigers did their best job of competing with Cooper and the Aggies in the second set. In fact, Cooper was held to just one kill in the second as the Tigers took a 13-9 lead. The Aggies fought back to tie the set at 17 with crosscourt kill. The Aggies (1-3) would take the lead for good after a Bianca Helton service error.

Another Tigers error and a kill by Cooper gave the Aggies a 20-17 advantage. Elisha Boyer closed out the set with a kill to the center of the floor. Cooper dominated from there. She scored five of the Aggies final eight points in the third set to finish off the Tigers (1-4).

"I'm glad we have finally achieved a win,'' said Conway. "I saw some good things out there. I saw them pick up the pace. I saw them talking and just enjoying the play."

Senior Amber Inman had 27 assists, while sophomore Andrea Evans finished with five kills, three blocks and four digs. The Aggies play again on Tuesday, September 7 when they travel to Huntington, WVa., to play Marshall and Morehead State at noon and 3 p.m., respectively.
