Nguyen went 2-for-3 with an RBI in Game 2. She has hit safely infour out of her last five games and is 6-for-10 at the plate over that same span. Cashion went 3-for-3 with two runs scored for the Mountaineers who have defeated the Aggies in three out of four games this season. Michelle Lighton was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored.

The Aggies, who defeated Appalachian State in February to win the N.C. A&T Invitational, took an early lead. Lillian Bullock set up the run by earning a base on balls. She stole second and moved to third on a Bianca Alsobrook groundout.

Nguyen's two-out RBI single to center field scored Bullock and gave the Aggies 1-0 advantage in the second inning. The Mountaineers would tie the game in their half of the second. Cashion doubled to right field and scored on an Aggies fielding error. Their lead increased to two runs as Cashion opened the fourth with a double to left center field.

Lighton's single scored Cashion. Lighton also scored on an error to give the Mountaineers a 3-1 lead. The Mountaineers added another run before the Aggies made a rally attempt in the seventh.

Junior Jennifer Luper opened the inning with a walk. Jasmine Parks replaced her on the bases as she reached on a fielder's choice. Nguyen moved Parks into scoring position with a single. Freshman Brittany Wade singled to left to score Parks to move the Aggies to within two. But a Yahamma White pop out ended the game for A&T.

The Aggies dropped to 16-19 on the season. The Mountaineers improved to 21-17. Sasha Philpot (8-9) took the loss in Game 2. Luper (8-10) lost the first game. The Aggies on Saturday when they take on defending MEAC Champion Florida A&M in a doubleheader at the Lady Aggies Softball Complex. The first game starts at 1 p.m.
