Biography

N.C. A&T CAREER: Took over the Aggies No. 1 pitcher’s position as a freshman and set a school record in wins (18)…she helped the Aggies reach the MEAC Tournament championship game by going 4-2 in the tournament with a 4.23 ERA…She earned second-team All-MEAC honors by going 4-2 in the conference with 1.78 ERA in 43.1 innings pitched…She also struck out 24 batters in conference play, while walking just 13 batters…From March 15-23, Philpot went 19 straight innings without giving up an earned run.

2007: After losing four-year pitching ace Latronda Anderson, Philpot was just what head coach Mamie Jones needed…As a freshman, Philpot recorded a school-record 18 wins while posting a 3.43 ERA with 115 strikeouts and 77 walks…Philpot led the league in groundball outs by getting 296 batters to ground out…She ranked third in the MEAC in strikeouts, fourth in the league in innings pitched (177.1) and sixth in the league in ERA…She also ranked fourth in wins…Opposing batters hit .271 against her, the fourth lowest batting average against a starter in the MEAC…Philpot made 35 appearances with 29 starts…She completed 16 of those games with two shutouts…Earned her first career win on Feb. 17 when she pitched seven innings, gave up four runs – three of them earned – and struck out nine in a 6-4 Aggies win over Bucknell…Recorded her first career shutout on against Winston-Salem State on March 21 as she gave up just three hits and struck out five in a 4-0 Aggies win at Lady Aggies Softball Complex…She also shutout Bethune-Cookman over five innings pitched, giving up one hit in an 8-0 win on April 27 at home…She struck out a season-high 10 batters on March 23 in a 7-3 home win over Florida A&M on March 23…Pitched seven innings and didn’t surrender an earned run, while striking out six in a 5-2 win over Western Carolina on March 15…In the tournament, helped the Aggies knock off the MEAC North’s No. 1 seed Hampton Pirates 7-3 by giving up just three runs in seven innings.

HIGH SCHOOL CAREER: Played two varsity seasons at Gwinnett High School under head coach Ryan Queen….Was a two-time Defensive Player of the Year…Earned All-County honors as a senior and was Pitcher of the Year as a freshman…As a junior, she went 20-12 with an ERA of 1.53 over 206.1 innings…She also struck out 222 batters.
