Aggies Think Pink Against B-CU

GREENSBORO - The North Carolina A&T volleyball team was thinking pink on Friday.

In recognition of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Aggies held their Think Pink match against the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats at Corbett Sports Center.

The Wildcats defeated the Aggies 3-0 (25-18, 14, 19), but the pink ribbons, the pink volleyball and the pink socks were a reminder to all in attendance to get regular check ups and exams.

In the match, the Aggies were led by freshman Elisha Boyer who had seven kills, four digs and a block assist. Sophomore Andrea Evans finished with three solo blocks, and freshman Tatiana Cooper led the way defensively with eight digs.

The Aggies held leads in all three sets. In fact, they opened the first set on an 8-3 run that was capped off by a Cooper kill. The Wildcats finally caught the Aggies when a kill by Kaiyana Johnson tied the set at 11. A ball handling error gave the Wildcats their first lead of the set.

Linda Nwabuko's attack error pulled the Aggies into a 12-12 tie. The Wildcats pulled away with a 7-2 run thanks to three Aggie attack errors. Jeana Daniels cut the lead down to three (19-16) with a service ace, but the Aggies could not get any closer.

Bethune-Cookman was led by Jessica Wilson who had eight kills and eight digs.
