North Carolina A&T interim head softball coach Diego Ibarra added Ricky Holden to his staff on February 14, 2023. He will serve as an assistant coach and assist in the Aggies recruiting efforts.Â
"Coach Holden's experience in the military and business world made him the perfect candidate as we work to build a sustainable, championship culture," said Ibarra. "There are specific skill sets that can only be honed outside of the game, and his connections with the high school and travel world will serve A&T well in the recruiting world. He is great with our players, and we see him as a rising star in collegiate coaching."
Holden's additional duties will include scouting, practice schedules, promotions, fundraising, academic monitoring, and managing team travel. Holden, a Henderson, NC native, served in the US Air Force with the job title of security forces. He played center field while enlisted. He completed his bachelor's degree in criminal justice at Westwood College and his master's degree from North Carolina Central University.Â
He serves as the chief executive officer of the 501 (c) (3) nonprofit Youth Connecting Foundation. In addition, Holden has coached fast-pitch softball since 2016 at the high school and 16/18-under travel AAU level.Â
