Cory Lima is in his first season as an assistant coach for the North Carolina A&T baseball program. Lima will double as the assistant athletic director for compliance for Aggie Athletics.

In his role as an assistant for Aggies baseball, Lima, a former minor league and A&T pitcher, will serve as the Aggies bench coach. Lima served as the Aggies fall pitching coach for three years starting in 1997. During the same time period, he was also a right-handed pitcher for various minor league teams in the Florida Marlins organization after the Marlins drafted him in the 25th of the 1997 MLB Draft. It marked the second time Lima was drafted after the Chicago Cubs took him in the 50th round out Redan High School (Ga.) in 1993.

Lima also played for various teams in independent leagues from 2000-2002 before retiring to begin his athletic administration career. Lima has served as the director of NCAA compliance and event management at the Southern Intercollegiate Athletics Conference for three years starting in 2001.

During his tenure there from 2002-03, he also was named the conference’s interim commissioner. In 2003, Lima became the assistant commissioner of NCAA compliance and championships at the Southwestern Athletic Conference before leaving in 2008 to take a position as the NCAA’s coordinator of academic and membership affairs.

In 2012 Lima returned to his alma mater to serve in his current position. Lima graduated from A&T in 1997 with a B.S., in recreation management. Four years later he received his M.S., in business administration from Clark Atlanta University. The Lima family has a rich history at A&T. Lima’s grandfather played football at A&T in the 1930’s and his father played shortstop at A&T in the 70’s. Lima starred as an Aggies pitcher from 1993-97.  

Lima and his wife Dr. Elisa Lima have three children, Coryn, Mahri, and Selah.
