Transferred to North Carolina A&T from Western Carolina…Brought great depth to the men’s middle distance/distance program, ranging from the 800 meters to the 5,000 meters… Competed in indoor and outdoor track and field during his first season as an Aggie…Runs numerous events and has numerous personal-best, including outdoor best of 2:06.30(800m), 4:08.68 (1500m), 10:16.44 (3000m steeplechase) and indoor best of 4:34.01 (1-mile), 9:09.05 (3000m) and 16:17.17 (5000m).
2013-14 Indoor Season: Competed in four indoor events… Placed first in the 3,000 meters at the UNCG Spartan Team Challenge with a personal-best time of 9:09.05…Helped the men’s distant medley relay place second at the MEAC Indoor Track and Field Championships in 10:23.68…Placed eighth in the 3000 at the MEAC Indoor Championships at 9:18.39.
2014 Outdoor Season: Placed third in the 3000 meter steeplechase at the Aggie Invitational in 10:25.04… Ran a personal-best in the 3000 meter steeplechase at the Charlotte Invitational with a sixth place finish in 10:16.44…Placed seventh at the MEAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships held at A&T’s Irwin Belk Track with a time of 10:16.85 in the 3000 meter steeplechase.
High School: Ran four years at Ronald Reagan High School under Christopher Catten, Donald Grant and Kevin Gleiser… Was a four-time AAU and USATF All-American in the 1500 and 3000 meters… State Champion in 3200 meter relay, setting a school record at 7:52.
Personal: Full name Perry Milton Cabean… He is the son of Perry and Flora Cabean… He was born on March 6, 1994… Has one brother, Miles Cabean… Majors in sociology and plans to practice law after graduation… Enjoys hanging out with friends… His favorite television show is Supernatural and his favorite food is spaghetti… Cabean chose North Carolina A&T because he felt it would be a good fit for him academically and athletically… Listens to jazz as a pre-race ritual.
