Came to N.C. A&T as a top-25 player out of the DC-Maryland-Virginia (DMV) area in 2020 … Was also a top-10 shooting guard out of the DMV …Came to AggieLand with the reputation of being a lights-out shooter … Gives the Aggies another 3-point threat … Has the ability to score the ball at will, and should develop into a reliable shot maker for the Aggies over time … Head coach Will Jones said the Aggies future is bright with Matthews on the roster.
 
2020-21 Season: Played in nine games for a total of 70 minutes (7.8 per game) as a true freshman for A&T… Scored 27 points (3.0 per game) and shot 27.3 percent from the field… Made six 3-pointers in his rookie campaign… Played a season-high 18 minutes and scored 10 points against Greensboro College on Dec. 18. 
 
High School: Played at Rock Creek Christian in Upper Marlboro, Md… Was a top-25 player in the DC-Maryland-Virginia (DMV) 2020 class and a top-10 shooting guard in the DC-Maryland Player Rankings… Averaged 13.4 points and 5.0 rebounds per game en route to 2020 Maryland Private School State Championship title… Led Rock Creek Christian Academy to a 28-7 overall record… Was the championship game MVP and earned all-tournament honors… Earned MVP at the 2020 Jump Ball Showcase and the Fourth Annual Hoop Buzz Invitational… Was named a 2020 Washington Post All-Metro honorable mention… Also earned MVP at the 2019 All-DMV Elite 80, an invitation-only event.
