Brown is the
inspirational leader of the North Carolina A&T bowling team...A year ago, the
team wore pink shoelaces to show solidarity toward Brown who lost her mother to
breast cancer...She brings veteran leadership to a young 2012-13 bowling squad...She
has bowled in 104 individual matches for an average 157.4...She bowled a
career-high 214 at the Wildcat Invite on Oct. 29, 2011....She is also an
excellent student who has earned A&T scholar athlete honors three times and
All-MEAC Academic honors twice.
2011-12 Season:
Bowled in 42 team match play games and totaled 5,970 pinfalls...Averaged 142.1
for the season...Averaged a season-best 176 on Oct. 22 at the Hampton
Invitational...Bowled a career-high 214 at
the Wildcat Invitational on Oct. 29...Played in 48 bakers games...Earned 2011-12
MEAC Commissioner's All-Academic Team honors.
2010-11 Season: Competed in a
team-high 27 games, and totaled 4,239 pinfalls...Consistently improved over the
course of the season, increasing her average from a 158.8 in her first meet to
a 178.4 in the last meet of the season...Had the second-highest pinfall total on
the team...Recorded a season average was 157...Her best game of the season was on
Jan. 8 at the MEAC Southern Division Meet, where she bowled 212.
2009-10 Season: Bowled in 35 games
with a total pinfall of 5,387...Ended the season with an average of 154, which
was the fourth-best on the team...Bowled a season-high 198 at the Deep South Open
on Oct. 23 and again at the MEAC Division Meet on Nov. 13...Bowled over 190 at
four separate occasions as a freshman.
High School: Competed with
varsity teams all four years of high school, also playing volleyball, tennis
and softball...Garnered a P&G Resident Scholar award, also won the Computer
Science Overachiever award, the Viking Award and the Superintendent Award.
Personal: Full name is Amber Lauricia Brown...She is the
daughter of Champ and Valerie Brown...Has one sibling, Valeta...Amber, who was born
on July 8, 1991, is a chemical engineering major...Her academic honors includes
being a Dowdy Scholar, HOME Program Scholar, a member of the National Society
of Black Engineers and a member of Alpha Lamda Delta...She is involved with
Toastmasters, a non-profit organization that develops public speaking and
leadership skills...Interned with the Marathon Petroleum Company and with Shell
Oil.
