GREENSBORO – The North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University volleyball team enters the 2026 season confident in both its on-court prospects and off-court achievements.

The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced its annual Team Academic Award, recognizing 1,432 collegiate and high school teams that maintained a year-long 3.3 GPA or higher on a 4.0 scale, or 4.1 on a 5.0 scale.

A&T earned this distinction for the fourth time in six years, including each of the past two years. The Aggies achieved a 3.52 team GPA during the 2025-26 academic year.

"We are very proud of how our team has performed on and off the court," said A&T head coach Hal Clifton, who has coached his team to a qualifying berth in the CAA volleyball tournament over the past two seasons. "Receiving the AVCA Team Academic Award shows the focus that our young ladies have in their academics. Achieving this goal over one academic year is not easy. It takes dedication and desire by our athletes."

The Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) also announced its academic honors this week. Eleven of Clifton's players earned recognition for maintaining a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Eight were named to the CAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll for the 2026 spring semester with high honors, earning GPAs between 3.7 and 3.9. Three players received honors for maintaining GPAs between 3.0 and 3.6.

"I want to congratulate our players on a job well done," said Clifton. "I also want to publicly thank our academic staff, Katrina Allen and Kristin Shinn, who work diligently to help our student-athletes."
