GREENSBORO – North Carolina A&T head volleyball coach Hal Clifton announced the hiring of Alexis Williams as an assistant coach for the program on Tuesday.

She comes to Aggieland after a strong collegiate volleyball career at Jackson State University (2020-24). After graduating from Jackson State in 2024, she spent one season as a volunteer assistant coach for Prairie View A&M University in 2025. At A&T, Williams will primarily work with the Aggies' pin hitters while also heading the volleyball program's social media efforts, alumni relations initiatives, and fan engagement.

"Aggie volleyball is thrilled to announce the addition of Alexis to our staff," Clifton said. "She quickly rose to the top of the applicant list based on all the boxes we were checking off. I love the fact that she was an outstanding student-athlete at Jackson State, another HBCU. Being able to relate to our current and future players is key. It's about building relationships. She has walked in places where our current student-athletes are walking."

During her time at PVAMU, she coordinated travel, assisted with daily team operations, handled administrative tasks, and organized events such as banquets, team functions, and other special programs. Last season, PVAMU won the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) regular-season title under head coach Dottie Hampton.

"North Carolina A&T stood out to me because of its culture and the opportunity to develop student-athletes in a meaningful way," said Williams. "It felt like the right fit immediately.  Every day in the gym, I want our athletes to feel challenged, supported, and empowered. My goal is to bring energy, attention to detail, and a mindset that pushes them to compete at a high level while continuing to grow as athletes. Thank you to Coach Hal and Coach Blaine for giving me this opportunity. I can't wait to get started."

Williams thrived as a pin hitter at Jackson State. Her accolades as a Tiger began early with SWAC Freshman of the Year honors. She earned All-SWAC recognition in all four seasons of her career, including three first-team selections. She was also team captain throughout her career at Jackson State.

Additionally, Williams recorded more than 1,000 career kills and helped lead the Tigers to two SWAC tournament titles (Spring 2021, 2023). She earned two All-SWAC tournament team honors in the process. Williams recorded 15 kills, 11 digs, and a service ace in the SWAC tournament title match to earn tournament MVP in 2023. In the spring of 2021, Jackson State claimed the SWAC regular-season crown.

In the classroom, Williams was a three-time Dean's List member. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree and a master's in sports science from Jackson State.

"From a player perspective, Alexis was outstanding on the court competing in the SWAC," Clifton said. "I love that she has won championships, and she knows what it takes to do so."
