ROCKY MOUNT, NC – History has been made for the women's tennis program at North Carolina A&T.
The Aggies guaranteed they will finish above .500 for only the second time in program history after defeating North Carolina Wesleyan 4-0 at the Slick Family Foundation Tennis Center on Wednesday.
The Aggies improved to 9-4, giving them a .692 winning percentage with two matches remaining on the schedule. After two seasons undermanned by injuries, they are now set to have their best winning percentage ever. With Wednesday's win, the Aggies have won three straight matches. The Aggies started strong on Wednesday in doubles play. Sophomore
Dorsa Cheraghi and senior
Hana El Sherif improved to 6-3 as a combo this season. They beat Behtan Fothergill and Renata Torres 6-1 at No. 1 doubles. A&T clinched the doubles point with a win at No. 2 doubles.
Sophomores
Flavia Villegas and
Juana Gomez Weiss defeated Andrea Elaez Miranda and Ivanna Torres 6-1. To complete the sweep, juniors
Randy Rakotoarilala and
Tabeth Tadoum defeated BreAnn Ferguson and Peyton McGahey 6-2. Rakotoarilala and Tadoum are an amazing 10-3 this season. They are 6-0 as a No. 3 doubles team. Rakotoarilala got things started in singles play at No. 2.
Rakotoarilala won in straight sets, 6-0, 6-1, over Fothergill, improving to 8-4 during the 2026 season. The Aggies took a 3-0 lead at No. 3 singles when Gomez Weiss beat Torres 6-2, 6-0 as Gomez Weiss improved to 8-3 in singles play. At No. 1 singles, El Sherif topped Miranda 6-0, 6-4 to give the Aggies the necessary wins it needed to clinch the victory. Tadoum started her match against Aja Selimovic, losing the first set 6-4. Tadoum held a 4-1 lead in the second set before the match went unfinished.
The Aggies will try to reach their first-ever 10-win season when they travel to Buies Creek on Saturday to face the Campbell Fighting Camels at 1 p.m. at Nisbet Tennis Center.
