ORLANDO, Fla. – Things are going well for North Carolina A&T tennis in Florida thus far this week. The North Carolina A&T women's tennis team is undefeated like their male counterparts. The Lady Aggies won twice on Tuesday, winning 6-1 over the University of Sioux Falls (S.D.) at the United States Tennis Association (USTA) National Main Campus.
Later in the day, they defeated Concordia College (Minn.) 6-1 at the main campus to improve to 3-0 during the 2025 season. A&T's only two losses on the day came on forfeits at No. 6 singles. A&T also forfeited the No. 3 doubles position in both matches but still won the doubles point each time.
Junior Hana El Sherif and sophomore Randy Rakotoarilala got things started on Tuesday with a 6-0 win over Karly Doom and Elsa Johnson 6-0 at No. 2 doubles. The freshman combination of Dorsa Cheraghi and Juana Gomez Weiss won 6-0 over Katelyn Nesheim and Brianna Holm at No. 1 singles.
In singles competition against the Cougars, freshman Flavia Vellegas defeated Kara Termaat 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 singles. At No. 1 singles, Cheraghi took down Maira Molitor 6-2, 6-0 to give the Aggies a 3-0 lead. El Sherif secured the win for A&T with a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Bella Molitor.
Gomez Weiss took No. 4 singles by defeating Mylin Lemke 6-0, 6-3. Rakotoarilala grabbed a win at No. 2 singles with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Emma Rangel to close the match.
After defeating the Cougars, the Aggies received a chance to play against the Concordia College Cobbers. A&T's journey to take the doubles point from the Cobbers started with a 6-0 win at No. 2, with El Sherif and Rakotoarilala beating Anna Hacker and Ava Loman. The Aggies' other doubles win came at No. 1 as Cheraghi and Gomez Weiss beat Emma Farder and Annalise Skrade 6-1.
In singles play, the Aggies started with Cheraghi easily winning at No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-0 over Hacker. Gomez Weiss also won in straight sets without a shutout, defeating Ava Lowman 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4 singles. Villegas finished off the Cobbers at No. 5 singles, defeating Isabelle Smith 6-0, 6-1.
Rakotoarilala secured another win at No. 2 singles with a 6-4, 6-0 win over Emma Farder. El Sherif won at No. 3 singles with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Skrade. The Aggies return to action on Wednesday afternoon with a noon matchup against Saginaw Valley State at Sanlando tennis courts.
