WILMINGTON, NC – The North Carolina A&T baseball team could not complete the series sweep against UNC Wilmington on Sunday at Brooks Field.

After winning two close ball games over the Seahawks on Friday and Saturday, the Seahawks put together a nine-run sixth inning, defeating the Aggies 13-0 in seven innings. The loss drops A&T into a four-way tie for second place. The Aggies are 8-17 overall and 4-2 in Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) play.

Behind a complete-game two-hitter from right-hander Cam Bagwell (W, 5-0), the Seahawks improved to 14-14 overall and 2-4 in league play. Bagwell also had four strikeouts and did not walk a batter. The Aggies compiled both of their hits in the visitor's fifth inning.

A&T did get a solid start from junior RHP Gavin Sentell (L, 1-4). Sentell threw five innings, giving up four runs and eight hits while walking two and striking out five. UNCW carried a 1-0 lead into the home fifth before scoring before the Seahawks scored three times off Sentell to take a 4-0 advantage.

But the sixth inning is where the Seahawks took over. Kevin Novobilski and Cole Nelson delivered the two biggest blows in the nine-run sixth. Novobilski hit a two-run double to give UNCW a 10-0 lead, and Nelson closed out the scoring with a three-run home run. Mac Gillespie went 4-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs for the Seahawks.

The Aggies return to action on Tuesday to face the Winthrop Eagles at War Memorial Stadium at 6 p.m. They start a three-game CAA series against the Stony Brook Seawolves on Friday, April 4 at War Memorial Stadium.
