GREENSBORO – North Carolina A&T is fresh off winning its fifth straight Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) regular-season title and enters this week with two more MEAC weekly honors.
The MEAC named senior Maya Avilez bowler of the week and freshman Victorya White rookie of the week. Avilez captured her third bowler of the week honor this season. Meanwhile, Victorya White secured her second rookie acknowledgment and fourth overall weekly award.
Avilez bowled superbly over the weekend at the MEAC Meet #2 hosted by Delaware State at Doverama in Dover, Del. A&T State finished with a 7,244 total pin count in traditional action, averaging 1,034.86 pins per match. Avilez ranked among MEAC bowlers last week in sum fill percentage (94.3), makeable spare percentage (96.3), and sum of nine-count spare percentage making all 14 attempts.
She registered the second-best average per frame (22.33) while ranking fourth in sum of striking percentage (55.7) and sum of average first ball (9.14).
White ranked second in sum fill percentage (91.4) and sum of average first ball (9.27). She also finished third in several categories, including average per frame (21.23), sum of striking percentage (57.1), and split leave percentage (4.3).
The Aggies will host their annual Vernell Stallings Invitational this weekend at AMF All-Star Lanes on Holden Road in Greensboro, NC. Bowling begins at 10 a.m. on Friday, February 28. On Saturday, the action begins at 9:30 a.m., and on Sunday, the teams start bowling at 8:30 a.m.
