GREENSBORO – North Carolina A&T men's golf followed up its victory at the SAS HBCU Invitational with a match-play win over North Carolina Central University (NCCU), hosted by Stephen Green at the Greensboro Country Club Farm on Wednesday. The Aggie men captured their third win of the fall, defeating the Eagles 6-2 in the match-play event.
Junior Camilo Marin was 1up when his match with Mateo Zolezzi ended. The Aggies got another win when sophomore Pedro Pereira was up three with two holes remaining over Kyle Gregory to win 3&2. The same happened for sophomore Javier Morgado, who defeated Hershal Patel 3&2.
Sophomore Mauricio Alvarado also won 3&2, earning his win over Kobe Narcisse. The Aggies did have a setback. Freshman Emilio Hernandez, who was the medalist at the SAS HBCU Invitational on Monday, lost to Jamal Hutchinson. Six holes were remaining in the match with Hutchinson ahead by seven.
A&T had one more defeat. Ben Wade beat graduate Tyler Partee 4&3. The rest of the contests went the Aggies' way. Junior Drew Walker found himself up five holes with three holes remaining over Jalen Brown to win 5&3. Sophomore Ignacio Zapata also earned a victory on Wednesday, defeating Clay Green 5&4.
The Aggies return to stroke play November 1-3 when they participate in the Fripp Island Intercollegiate hosted by USC Upstate at Ocean Creek Golf Course in St. Helena Island, SC.
