EAST GREENSBORO – The North Carolina A&T Department of Athletics celebrated its own on Monday night to recognize the accomplishments of the 2022-23 season as it culminates in a few weeks.
It was another successful season for Aggie Athletics with another MEAC title in bowling, the emergence of the men's and women's tennis programs, the continuing success of A&T track and field and the hiring of coaches for football, men's basketball and track and field. In addition, women's basketball coach Tarrell Robinson became the program's all-time winningest coach and won his 200th career game during the 2022-23 season.
A&T's highest honors went to bowling's Melanie Katen, who earned the Kayla White Female Athlete of the Year award, and men's track and field's Reheem Hayles, who secured the Tarik Cohen Male Athlete of the Year trophy.
Bowling's Lauren Tomaszewski had a big night, taking home awards for Senior Female Athlete of the Year and the Catherine Bonner Award for persevering and achieving despite facing difficult obstacles. In addition, she claimed her team's award for Bowling Game Changer. She also joined her teammates in earning the Academic Female Team of the Year award as the bowling team accumulated a 3.63-grade point average.
