NORTH CAROLINA A&T (4-8, 0-2 CAA):  North Carolina A&T will try to secure its first win ever in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) this weekend after dropping 3-2 and 3-1 decisions to Elon last Saturday and Sunday at Moore Gymnasium. 

Naiya Sawtelle had back-to-back 20-plus kill performances against the Phoenix last weekend. She has four 20-plus kill performances this season. Liselotte Spoormakers had a combined .410 hitting percentage  in the two matches at Moore over the weekend. Sophomore Madison Sanabria had a breakout match with a season-high six blocks on Sunday. Meanwhile, freshman Sagaia Reilly has been errorless lately. She has not had an attack error in her last 20 swings and has compiled 12 kills over that span. 

Head coach Hal Clifton enters his 12th season as the leader of the Aggies and has posted a 113-194 overall record. However, in the last five seasons, Clifton has led the Aggies to a 77-61 (.558) record and at least a .500 winning percentage in the previous four.

HOFSTRA PRIDE (5-8, 2-0 CAA): Hofstra began the CAA with back-to-back 3-1 wins over Stony Brook on the road. The wins snapped a three-match losing streak. The Pride received two weekly awards for its efforts as Chiara Cucco earned CAA defensive player of the week, and Izadora Stedile secured weekly rookie honors from the conference.

Cucco, the Pride's libero, recorded 6.13 digs per set to lead Hofstra. On Saturday, she tallied a season-high 27 digs, adding three service aces and two assists over four sets. Cucco followed the performance with a match-high 22 digs while also contributing eight assists. Cucco has surpassed 20 digs on three occasions this fall. 

Stedile, an outside hitter, averaged 3.75 kills per set and 3.63 digs per set over the weekend. She opened the weekend with a season-high of 17 kills while adding nine digs and three blocks. On Sunday, she posted 13 kills and a season-high 20 digs. Clara Bal leads the Pride with 2.45 kills per set, and Sarah Pierre leads with 1.15 blocks per set.

Emily Mansur is in her ninth season at Hofstra. She had instant success leading the Pride to the CAA championship and a berth to the NCAA tournament in her first season.

  THE SERIES: This will be the first meeting between the two schools.

CAREER NOTES: 

  •  Addy Warfield recorded 42 assists last weekend, giving her 1,360. She is sixth all-time in program history. 
  • Mallory Porcher has 176 block assists and needs 13 to move into seventh place past Mara Davis with 188 from 1996-99.
